Forgive me if this is a dumb question, but i'm really new at this.

I have read about the idle adjust, air mix adjust, and primary adjustment screws. My question is when and if I should adjust them. I imagine the idle adjust would be a last resort, as alot of idle problems seem to have other sources. What do the air mix, and primary adjustment screws do? And when should I ( if ever ) need to adjust them. I suppose I should also mention that I'm not really a racer, I just want the bike to run well and avoid any problems in the future.

Also when shifting, is there any harm in keeping the bike in higher RPM while cruizing. I know there are reccomended MPH's for shifting, but I never really think about it, and just shift when I feel the bike wants to do it/by the engine sound. I guess that leads me to my third question, what is lugging the engine? I'm thinking it is like running a too low a speed for the gear you are in? what does this do to the engine?

Anyway hope you all get some nice riding weather this weekend, and thanks in advance for the advice!
