Text Box: Buell.
Does your GSXZXRRZ1500-GP1000ZZR racer illicit the primeval visceral feel of an American hotrod when you look at it?
If you often find yourself up in the middle of the night dreaming about your next mod you’ll be making, registered on numerous Buell forums, staring at your bike in the cold garage for no apparent reason than to bask and your screen savers or wallpapers on the computer are pictures of Buells instead of your wife or children….well, let’s just say you might be afflicted.
I’m personally proud to say I’m afflicted. The only part of this Text Box: Erik Buell and his company, just as those who buy and ride his motorcycles are different. Different is good.
When it comes to any product you can’t go wrong when you design said product to meet the needs, wants and desires of those who are buying it.
It’s true to a degree that all mfgs. do this. But how many Honda, Suzuki or Yamaha owners can meet the president of their company face to face to talk about flaws, ideas or shoot the bull at a company’s customer appreciation celebration or event?
Will your ideas show up on the next iteration of model year if they are good ones? They might if it’s a Text Box: whole affliction is the difficulty I have in explaining to my doctor that I need something for my insomnia because I’ve spent half the night thinking about my American holy-of-all-holy-grails Buell hotrod.
When I read online posts of other motorcyclists bashing the Buell brand I can only recall the often sounded cliché, “…if you have to ask….”.
Until next time, ride it like Erik meant it to be ridden!
